Management’s FUN New Year’s Resolutions
January 3, 2008
Wow! 2008 is really here! As a manager/leader you now have the opportunity to have some fun. You see, you can make fun out of anything, resolutions, work or what happened to me on New Year’s day……
You see my New Year started off so-o-o-o-o-o-o bad that my son commented. “Mom, you have no where to go but up.” What happened was the septic system at my mountain cabin froze and backed up. (Picture what has gone down all the drains in your home lately and you will get the picture.) Now you can delegate the task of fixing this to the staff at hand, call a plumber OR get right in there and set a good example. Can you guess what I did?
Well, while I set a good example by shoveling ……. I decided that this was just like work. Things can get pretty ugly sometimes and just maybe a new attitude on how to handle this tough stuff is in order. To that end I laughed my way through my ordeal on New Year’s and decided I should laugh all year long. Let’s get management, and employees, laughing. Want to join me? Then enjoy these New Year’s resolutions for managers and see if some them work for you. (PLEASE add your own resolutions on this blog to keep the laughter going.)
MANAGER’S FUN NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS.
1. I resolve to write out why I am such a great boss and hand it to my employee’s to edit and return to me. All revisions will be published as well.
2. I resolve to email my boss at least once a month and tell her or him what they are doing right.
3. I resolve to let my employee’s see me laughing, a lot.
4. I resolve to change my whatever part of my wardrobe, hair or office decor that has been the same for more than two years and shake things up a bit.
5. I resolve to stay in a good mood no matter what.
6. I resolve that if you work for me, by the end of this year you’ll be laughing too because it is just so much fun to do what we do.
7. I resolve to put more color, cartoons, pictures, music and life in my reports so they are fun to read.
8. I resolve to turn the tough stuff into games, races or whatever so we can have fun while we get it done!
Now it’s your turn……. let’s hear your resolutions!
